Bronze for Unic at the Best of Swiss Silverlight with Sales Tool for Siemens Switzerland AG
To calculate the optimisation potential for building solutions, Unic developed an intuitively operable application on the basis of Microsoft Silverlight 3.0. The application received the Bronze award on the occasion of the Shape Conference in Zurich.

Siemens Switzerland AG is committed to solving the environmental issues of the future with products and services for the energy and environmental sectors. Customers are supported in the use of the most modern and extensive building technology solutions. Energy efficiency optimisation represents an important area. The tool permits the calculation of energy savings potentials in buildings and the direct export of data for post-processing in Office applications. The results for optimisation and change can be displayed in real-time.
The Rich Internet application is cost efficient and usable for similar application areas. Apart from central data administration, it allows the Siemens consultants of the Building Technology Division to work more efficiently and provide optimum customer support. “The new solution allows us to achieve significant savings and advantages. Our consultants do not require any training for the tool. Our customers receive individual optimisation recommendations with just a few mouse-clicks and a visual display of their savings potentials at the end of the consultancy period,” explains Bernardo Egli, Marketing Communication Manager of Siemens Switzerland AG’s Building Technologies Division.
Jessica Goodson, Screen Designer at Unic, says, “Silverlight in itself permits a large degree of flexibility, which is why Unic’s extensive competences and their combination in the Technology, Design, and Usability areas were so much more important in this project. The result of the project is a user-friendly, dynamic, well-designed, and technically demanding solution.”
This year marked the first time that the Best of Swiss Silverlight Award was bestowed within the scope of the annual Microsoft event “Shape – The Web Conference”, at which Internet solutions are awarded on the basis of Microsoft Silverlight. “Best of Swiss Silverlight” was created in cooperation with the Best of Swiss Web Association, simsa, the online magazine Netzwoche, and Microsoft Switzerland.
